Employment Opportunity

The Lincoln County School District has partnered with the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office to provide School Resource Officers (SRO) to our schools. The SRO is assigned to a school district on a full-time basis. Duties include safety planning, enforcement, teaching and mentoring. Officers shall be screened for intelligence, ability to teach subjects within their area of expertise, and their ability to interact with students. The SRO is not merely an armed security guard.

The Mississippi Department of Education requirements for an SRO are as follows:
  • At least 24 years old.
  • At least 3 years of full-time law enforcement experience prior to SRO assignment.
  • Completion of the MDE - SRO - Basic Course within two years of appointment OR the National Association of SRO (NASRO) Basic School Resource Officer Training plus eight hours of MDE state specific content training.
  • Clear background check.
  • Clear drug test.
*Completion of the Police Officer Basic Course (Reserve Basic is not acceptable).
