QUALIFICATIONS
REPORTS TO: Building Principal and Special Services Director
JOB GOAL
To provide appropriate speech/language services to Pre-K – 12th grade which address personal, social/emotional, academic and vocational needs that have an impact on the attainment of education goals.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Such duties and responsibilities as may be assigned, including but not limited to:

Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Superintendent of Education, Assistant Superintendent of Education, and Director of Special Education.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
187 days annually with salary in accordance with the Lincoln County School District Teacher Pay Scale

- All instructional personnel shall be certified and licensed in accordance with state law and the regulations of the Mississippi Department of Education. Such licensure and transcripts of credits shall be on file in the office of the Superintendent of Education.
- In accordance with Mississippi Code S37-9-17, all personnel employed by the public-school system shall be required to pass a criminal background check and a current child abuse registry check.
- Mississippi Department of Education Certification in speech pathology.
REPORTS TO: Building Principal and Special Services Director
JOB GOAL
To provide appropriate speech/language services to Pre-K – 12th grade which address personal, social/emotional, academic and vocational needs that have an impact on the attainment of education goals.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Such duties and responsibilities as may be assigned, including but not limited to:
- Implements building/therapy schedules.
- Establishes a referral/screening and evaluation system for speech/language services (i.e., articulation tracking for elementary, new referrals, three-year comprehensive reassessments.)
- Performs and interprets diagnostic evaluations to determine eligibility and appropriate recommendations.
- Serves as a member of the multidisciplinary team in the referral/diagnostic process.
- Provides direct/indirect therapy for identified students.
- Provides therapy through continuous evaluation and annual updating of individual educational plans.
- Be accountable for student status through the use of charts, records, progress reports, etc.
- Supports hearing screening program and provides input assistance when needed.
- Provides consulting services to parents, teachers, administrators, and colleagues.
- Ensures professional growth and support through scheduled staff meetings and related professional readings, conferences, workshops, or in-services.
- Performs any other duties assigned by supervisor(s).
- Submits reports and schedules eligibility meetings in order to meet timelines compliance requirements of federal and state regulations.
- Prepares a schedule of speech students for the principal as early as possible and continue to inform him/her of changes in schedule or students added or deleted.
