Description
School Resource Officer (SRO) will be responsible for monitoring school safety. Officers shall be screened for professionalism and their ability to interact with students. The SRO is not merely an armed security guard.
Qualifications:
*Completion of the Police Officer Basic Course (Reserve Basic is not acceptable).
Candidates will need to select link(s) below, print and complete the Peace Officer Training Form(s). Form(s) must be notarized. Form can be uploaded to application or notarized and delivered to LCSD Central Office.

Qualifications:
- The Mississippi Department of Education requirements for an SRO are as follows:
- At least 24 years old.
- At least 3 years of full-time law enforcement experience prior to SRO assignment.
- Completion of the MDE - SRO - Basic Course within two years of appointment OR the National Association of SRO (NASRO) Basic School Resource Officer Training plus eight hours of MDE state specific content training.
- Clear background check.
- Clear drug test.
