Children spend much of their day in the classroom. Helping children achieve their highest degree of physical, mental, and social health possible facilitates the learning process. My role at Loyd Star is to facilitate this learning process by striving to promote the health and safety of the students and staff.
Services provided by the School Nurse include, but are not limited to:
- Obtain student health histories to accommodate individual needs.
- Provide health education and counseling to promote the health and safety of students and staff.
- Identify abnormal health findings and initiate referral or intervention as needed.
- Conduct periodic screenings in vision, growth, scoliosis, etc.
- Collaborate with staff and students’ families to foster positive student responses resulting in optimal wellness and readiness to learn.
