West Lincoln Attendance Center

  • JOB TITLE: Janitor/Custodian

    STATUS: Part Time Position

    POSITION OVERVIEW: The person who will assume the position of school janitor is accepting a very important role in the functioning of our school. The school janitor will be responsible for the cleaning and care of our school while creating a safe and positive environment for our staff and students.

    RESPONSIBILITIES: The following description of tasks is not intended to outline every last detail of the janitorial position. It will serve to give a general impression of the duties relating to the job. It is hoped that the janitor will gradually assume the position of caretaker of the buildings.

    *Perform major cleaning tasks such as vacuuming, wet-mopping, sweeping, dusting, emptying trash, stripping and waxing floors, lifting waste paper and debris, and disinfecting drinking fountains.

    *Clean restrooms, including floors and all fixtures (i.e.: urinals, toilets, sinks, mirrors, partitions, and counters). Ensure restrooms are clean and disinfected.

    *Wash windows and sills (door glass).

    *Perform ongoing tasks such as replacing light bulbs (climb ladders up to a height of 16 feet), filling dispensers, and setting up facilities for student and adult use (lifting furniture, boxes, cafeteria tables, etc. -minimum of 55 lbs.).

    *Ensure that all doors and windows are appropriately locked.

    *Must be able to maneuver up and down stairs frequently, as well as regular bending and standing as needed in a daily shift.

    *Assist in major clean-up in summer such as washing desks and chairs, washing down walls, stripping and waxing floors, etc.

    *Spray/Pull weeds, keep grounds free of rubbish.

    *Basic electrical/plumbing/mechanical repairs (changing ballasts, door lock mechanisms, etc.)

    *Maintain a professional relationship with students, faculty, administration and community members.



    *Favorable Criminal Background Check for the candidate who is offered employment

    *Direct deposit of paychecks is a condition of employment for all employees.
