How To Become A Substitute Employee
In order to qualify for this position, the following conditions must be met:
1.) Contact the principal of the school and express your interest in substitute teaching.
2.) Fill out an employment application at the Central Office.
3.) The principal must recommend you and be approved by the School Board.
4.) After board approval, return to the Central Office and pay a one-time fee of $32.00 for FBI fingerprinting and background check.
Note: Each school is allowed 15 substitute individuals. Once you are on the list, you are eligible to substitute at any school in the district. If removed from the list, that voids your employment and you are no longer eligible.
Payscale for Substitute Employees Per Day as of 2009-10
Substitute teacher with college degree – $70.00
Substitute teacher without college degree – $60.00
Substitute for a teacher aide or secretary – $60.00
Substitute cafeteria workers – $44.00
Licensed teachers who substitute 10 or more consecutive days for the same teacher will receive $80 per day after the 10th day.
The rate of substitute pay for a half day will be one half of the daily rate.
