  1. We want to wish everyone a safe and enjoyable Thanksgiving break.
  2. Good luck TONIGHT to our basketball teams as they play Wesson HERE beginning at 4 with the Jr. High games followed by the Varsity.
  3. According to the LCSD Student Handbook - Parents giving students permission to leave school before dismissal time must send a signed note with check out time and they must call and verify the permission slip to the school office before time for the student to check out. Students will not be allowed to call parents to check out.
  4. Our FFA is selling Southern Heritage meats for Christmas. Deadline for ordering is Dec. 1. See an FFA member to place your order.
  5. Do you need community service hours? The Hardwood Club is looking for a few good concession stand workers. Sign up in the office lobby.
  6. Juniors and Seniors - If you would like community service hours and are willing to help the Salvation Army ringing bells this holiday season, please come by the counselor's office for more information.
  7. Subject Area Retests: Biology - Nov. 28, US History - Nov. 29, English II - Nov. 30 & Dec. 1 (This is a 2-day test), Algebra I - Dec. 6, starting at 8:00, instead of Dec. 5.

**All tests will begin at 8:00 am in the Chrome Room.

SENIORS:

  1. Senior Parents - Get2College has two upcoming parent webinars offered at the lunch hour, free of charge. All you need is a device with an internet connection, and you can join via Zoom video conferencing from wherever you are. Online registration is required at www.get2college.org and opens two weeks before the webinar date. Once you register, you will receive a link to join, followed by a recording after the webinar.
  2. All Seniors need to complete the State Financial Aid Application. Either go to www.mississippi.edu or at the end of the fafsa application, it will ask you if you want to apply for state financial aid and you can apply there. Even if you don't qualify for fafsa, many students will qualify for state financial aid which includes MTAG. MTAG is not based on income.
  3. ALL ABOUT THE FAFSA is Tuesday, Nov. 7, 12-1pm & STATE AID IN MISSISSIPPI is Tuesday, Dec. 12, 12-1pm. If you are a parent of a senior and have never completed FAFSA before, this webinar is highly recommended.
  4. Any senior who has played Dixie Youth Baseball when 12 years of younger is eligible to apply for this scholarship. Applications can be picked up in the counselor's office. Deadline to apply is Feb. 1, 2018.
  5. Seniors who plan to attend Co-Lin can now apply for the Taylor Presidential Scholarship. To be eligible it is recommended to have an ACT score of 25 or greater. Seniors may pick up an application in the counselor's office. Deadline to apply is February 1, 2018
  6. Seniors: The Mississippi Association of Supervisors is now accepting applications for the 2018 MAS County Employee Scholarship Program. MAS will award up to two $500 scholarships per county. Applicants must have an immediate family member currently working for or retired from a Mississippi county to be eligible to apply. County employee means any person working directly for the county government (not a school district, county hospital or other entity) Students who qualify can either go to http://www.mssupervisors.org/scholarship-program to download an application or come to the counselor's office to pick up an application. Deadline to apply is March 1, 2018.
