Character Quality for the week of Sept 17 - 21 – Truthfulness vs. Deception

Truthfulness - Earning future trust by accurately reporting past facts.

Health Tip of the Week: - Think! Don’t Drink! The consumption of alcohol is responsible for over 1500 teenage deaths due to automobile accidents each year in the US. Alcohol consumption also causes cancer, heart disease, liver disease, brain disease, and many other health problems. Alcohol is also responsible for many broken homes in the US.


  • Thursday, Sept 20 – Slowpitch – AWAY – WL vs Bogue Chitto – 5:00/6:00
  • Friday, Sept 21 – Football – AWAY – WL vs Stringer – 7:00
  • Saturday, Sept 22 – Cross Country @ New Albany – bus will leave at 11:00 on Friday

SR BETA: There will be a senior beta meeting TODAY at 1st break in Mrs. McEwen’s room.

JR BETA: There will be a junior beta meeting on WEDNESDAY during 1st break in Mrs. Stephanie Noble’s room.

SHIRTS: There are extra Homecoming and Game Day shirts for sale in Mrs. Monica’s office.

ADVANCED: Current 8th & 9th grade students that scored ADVANCED on last year’s state test will need to report to Mrs. Yelverton’s room at 1st break TODAY for a picture.

PIZZA SALES: Pizzas and drinks will be on sale TODAY and THURSDAY at 1st break.

BEAUTY & BEAU PAGEANT: Saturday, Nov 24, starting with kindergarten at 3:00 p.m. at Southwest MS Community College. Registration will be $50. Deadline to enter will be FRIDAY, OCTOBER 5. (The pageant date was moved due to Southwest being under renovation from Dec-March.). Grades 7-12 may pick up a packet from Mrs. Monica’s office or from outside Mrs. McEwen’s door. Grades 5th & 6th may pick up a packet from Mrs. Misty’s office.

MISS MERRY CHRISTMAS: Senior girls interested in the Miss Merry Christmas contest may pick up an application from Mrs. Monica’s office. There is a $20 entry fee and the deadline to enter is noon on Friday, Oct 19.

JR. AMBASSADORS: Any 9th grade girl interested in being a Jr. Ambassador may pick up an application from Mrs. Monica’s office. There is a $30 participation fee and the deadline is noon on Friday, Sept 28.

DEBUTANTE: Any senior girl interested in the Zeta Phi Beta Debutante Ball may pick up an application from Mrs. Monica. The deadline to enter is Oct 21.

COMMUNITY SERVICE: Any high school students who have significant community service and would be interested in applying for the 2019 Prudential Spirit Community Awards can learn more at

STAFF MEETING: There will be a MANDATORY meeting for all certified staff on Wednesday, Sept 19 at 3:30 in the library. Please make arrangements to be there.

FCA: Friday at 7:30 in Coach Addison’s room.

  • WENDY’S HIGH SCHOOL HEISMAN – Applications are available online at Deadline to apply is Oct 17, 2018.
  • TAYLOR PRESIDENTIAL SCHOLARSHIP – Applications are available in Mrs. Monica’s office for those seniors that are planning on attending Co-Lin next year. Deadline to apply is February 1, 2019.
  • DIXIE YOUTH BASEBALL – Applications are available in Mrs. Monica’s office. You must have participated in a Dixie Youth Baseball program when you were 12 yrs old or younger. Deadline to apply is February 1, 2019.
