  1. Junior class will receive their pizza party for perfect attendance for the ACT test this Friday @ break in the library.
  2. Seniors will have a meeting in the gym @ break tomorrow to go over senior pep rally presentation.
  3. All Junior High and High School students (boys & girls) interested in trying out for basketball need to sign up in Coach Seth Britt’s room.
  4. Loyd Star FFA is having a car wash fundraiser to raise money for their State convention in Starkville. Please call the ag building to schedule your appointment time. Car/Small SUV-$20 and Large SUV/Truck $25, includes vacuum, wash, interior cleaned, tire pressure check and all fluid checked.
  5. Any students that owe money to the cafeteria need to get it paid as soon as possible.
  6. Baseball players need to turn their uniforms in to Coach Jared Britt as soon as possible.
  7. Any upcoming junior or senior who wants to take a dual enrollment summer or fall class needs to come and sign the list in the counselor's office. If you are taking a class and have never taken a dual enrollment class, make sure to get the paperwork from Mrs. Redd so she can enroll you. Deadline to sign up for summer dual enrollment is Wednesday, May 9, by 11:00 am. If you take summer dual enrollment you will have to pay full price for the class.
  8. Athletic Banquet for Baseball, Basketball, Fastpitch, Golf, Track/Cross Country and Powerlifting will be May 16, 2018, 5:30 pm @ the Lincoln Civic Center. Guest tickets are available in the office for $17 each. THIS FRIDAY May 11 @ 12pm is the deadline to purchase tickets. You will not be purchase tickets at the door.
  9. Class t-shirts order forms are in the office lobby.
  10. Co-Lin is offering an ACT Prep Class on Saturday, June 2, 2018, from 9:00-12:00. You must contact enrollment services @ 601-643-8397 to sign up and space is limited. The cost of the class is $60 and the deadline to sign up is May 16, 2018.
  11. The Mississippi Dept. of Transportation if looking for roadway construction inspectors in Brookhaven. They have 2 openings for full time employment. If any senior is interested in full time employment after graduation, please turn in a job application now. The office is located at 198 Hwy. 84 Frontage Rd., Brookhaven, MS.

SENIORS:

 

  1. The Myers Educational Foundation Scholarship is now available in the counselor's office. Criteria include: A student who has been personally affected by cancer or heart disease, or has a member of thier immediate family that has been affected by cancer or heart disease, outstanding moral character, creditable achievement, commendable attitude, community service, leadership skills and pursing a career in education or medicine. Deadline to apply is May 11.
  2. If you are planning to go into a career of education, the Retired Education Personnel of Mississippi is offering a scholarship opportunity. Applications can be picked up in the counselor's office and must be postmarked no later than May 31.
  3. Seniors- If you are interested in enrolling in Career and Technical Education programs for Fall 2018, you are invited to apply for the Horatio Alger Association Career and Technical Scholarship. The association will award 1020 scholarships in 2018. Students may apply online at application.horatioalger.org. Deadline is June 15th.
  4. All Seniors need to complete the State Financial Aid Application. Either go to www.mississippi.edu or at the end of the fafsa application, it will ask you if you want to apply for state financial aid and you can apply there. Even if you don't qualify for fafsa, many students will qualify for state financial aid which includes MTAG. MTAG is not based on income.
