Character Quality for the week of Oct 9 - Oct 11 – Gratefulness

Gratefulness - Making known to others in what ways they have benefited my life.

Health Tip of the Week: - Avoid Nature Deficit Disorder! Cut back on technology such as tv, cell phones, internet, and digital games and enjoy the great outdoors. Many stress related problems can be reversed by spending more time outdoors at places like the zoo, the beach, a local park, or a walk in the woods.

Tuesday, Oct 17 – JV Football – AWAY – WL vs Bogue Chitto – 6:00 pm

Friday, Oct 20 – Football – AWAY – WL vs Bogue Chitto – 7:00 pm

BETA CHEESE: The Jr. and Sr. Beta Clubs are selling blocks of cheese from now until Wednesday, October 25. They are $12.00 a block, and you can choose from mild cheddar, sharp cheddar, or pepper jack. The mild and sharp come in 1 pound blocks. The pepper jack comes in 2-12 ounce blocks. See a Jr. or Sr. Beta member, Mrs. Stephanie Noble, or Mrs. LeAnn McEwen to order!

BASEBALL TRYOUTS: High school and jr high tryouts will be TODAY from 3:00-5:00.

FISHING TEAM: The fishing team will have their first tournament this Saturday at the Ross Barnett Reservoir. They will be fishing in the Mississippi Bass Nation. Weigh in will begin at 2pm. Good luck to our fishing team!!

REPORT CARDS: Will go out on Wednesday, Oct 18 and are due back by Friday, Oct 20 with a parent’s signature.

FAST PITCH: Any girl in grades 7-12 that are trying out for Fast pitch need to sign up at Coach Redd’s door. Tryouts will be Tuesday and Wednesday after fall break. You must have a physical on file to try out.

TENNIS: Any student in grades 7-12 whose interested in trying out for tennis needs to sign up outside Mrs. Rogers door. Try outs will be Thursday, Oct 19 at 3:45 at Brookhaven Country Club. You must have a physical on file to try out.

READING FAIR: West Lincoln School will hold the annual Reading Fair on Wednesday, Oct 18. Students who are interested can pick up a packet from their English/Reading teacher. All boards must be taken and set up in Mrs. Janice Davis’ room on the 18th by 8:30 a.m. Judging will take place and winners will be announced on Friday, Oct 20.

BEAUTY PAGEANT: The 2017-2018 West Lincoln Beauty/Beau Pageant will be Saturday, January 13 at Southwest Community College. K-6 will begin at 1:00 p.m. and 7-12 will begin at 6:00 p.m. K-2 packets have been sent home. Grades 3-6 may pick up packets from Mrs. Misty’s office and grades 7-12 may pick up packets at Mrs. Monica’s office. The entry fee is $50 and the deadline to register is November 30.

SENIOR NIGHT: Senior parent night is Oct 19 at 5:30 p.m. in the library. All seniors and parents are encouraged to attend.

FALL BREAK: Begins on THURSDAY. Students will return to school on Tuesday, Oct 17. Have a safe fall break!

SENIOR DEADLINES: All senior ad information is due to Mrs. Webb by December 1, 2017. Ad money should be turned into Mrs. Carrie. Ad space is on a first come, first serve basis.


Coca Cola Scholarship application is available online at Deadline for submission is Oct. 31

Horatio Alger Scholarship – minimum GPA of 2.0 and financial need. For more information, go to; Deadline is Oct 25.

Taylor Presidential Scholarship (for Co-Lin bound students only) -- Criteria for this scholarship includes GPA/ACT, difficulty of courses taken in high school, financial need, leadership, honors and community service. Deadline is Feb. 1, 2018. See Mrs. Robin for applications.

FASFA will be available beginning Oct 1.
