January 11, 2018

 

  1. There will be a meeting TONIGHT for all parents of baseball players at 6:00 in Coach Jared’s classroom.
  2. There will be a Prom meeting for Junior parents TOMORROW at 5:30 in Ms. Robyn Smith’s classroom. Prom is March 24, 7:00 in the FEMA Bldg.
  3. Don’t forget to order your yearbook!!

SENIORS:

  1. The Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholarship is now available online at www.jackierobinson.org. Eligible students must be a graduating, minority high school senior who plans to attend an approved four-year college in the US. Applicants must show leadership potential, community service, and evidence of financial need. Other requirements include US citizenship and ACT of 21 or above. Deadline to apply is Feb. 1, 2018.
  2. Senior Parents - Get2College has two upcoming parent webinars offered at the lunch hour, free of charge. All you need is a device with an internet connection, and you can join via Zoom video conferencing from wherever you are. Online registration is required at www.get2college.org and opens two weeks before the webinar date. Once you register, you will receive a link to join, followed by a recording after the webinar.
  3. All Seniors need to complete the State Financial Aid Application. Either go to www.mississippi.edu or at the end of the fafsa application, it will ask you if you want to apply for state financial aid and you can apply there. Even if you don't qualify for fafsa, many students will qualify for state financial aid which includes MTAG. MTAG is not based on income.
  4. Any senior who has played Dixie Youth Baseball when 12 years of younger is eligible to apply for this scholarship. Applications can be picked up in the counselor's office. Deadline to apply is Feb. 1, 2018.
  5. Seniors who plan to attend Co-Lin can now apply for the Taylor Presidential Scholarship. To be eligible it is recommended to have an ACT score of 25 or greater. Seniors may pick up an application in the counselor's office. Deadline to apply is February 1, 2018
  6. Seniors: The Mississippi Association of Supervisors is now accepting applications for the 2018 MAS County Employee Scholarship Program. MAS will award up to two $500 scholarships per county. Applicants must have an immediate family member currently working for or retired from a Mississippi county to be eligible to apply. County employee means any person working directly for the county government (not a school district, county hospital or other entity) Students who qualify can either go to http://www.mssupervisors.org/scholarship-program to download an application or come to the counselor's office to pick up an application. Deadline to apply is March 1, 2018.
