Teachers, Parents and Retirees Honored at Meeting

DISTRICT – At the end of every school year, a local “Parent of the Year” and “Teacher of the Year” is recognized by each school. Then, a “District Parent of the Year and “District Teacher of the Year” is selected from the nominees.
The 2012 selection for Parent of the Year included Shannon Bailey of Bogue Chitto, C.J. Jones III of Enterprise, Pam Wyant of Loyd Star and Brad Rushing of West Lincoln.
The 2012 selection of Teacher of the Year included Mary Adams of Bogue Chitto, Brittany Alexander of Enterprise, Jessica Franklin of Loyd Star and Kellee Smith of West Lincoln.
District Parent of the Year went to C.J. Jones III of Enterprise
District Teacher of the Year went to Jessica Franklin of Loyd Star
In addition to recognizing parents and teachers, another group of individuals were brought before the school board. Retiring from schools this year include Cheryl Barrett as a Loyd Star Cafeteria employee; Donna Dixon and Becky Smith as a West Lincoln teachers; Dorothy Sutton as an Enterprise teacher; Don Presley, Linda Gayten and Pam French as Loyd Star teachers.
Superintendent Terry Brister thanked the retirees for their many years of service to public education and to Lincoln County School District. Individuals recognized during the May 7th board meeting received a plaque/certificate for their honor.
